YLHS XC Girls Varsity and Senior Toren Habbestad all advanced to State last Saturday, November 22 at Mt. SAC, during the Southern Section CIF Finals. All eight runners will compete at the State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno this Saturday, November 27. The team competed well, with two top-ten finishes and two season-capping PRs!
Toren came in 9th place overall in the D3 Boys’ race, securing a qualification for State as an individual. This is only the second time a boy from YLHS has advanced to the State meet; the first time was when Toren qualified as an individual at CIF Finals in 2024. Congratulations on your achievement, Toren!
Junior Isabella Wroblewski came in 4th overall in the D3 Girls’ race. Congratulations, Isabella, on your performance! She was followed by Junior Savannah Gonzalez, Freshman Brooke Habbestad, Senior Brooke Boyd, Junior Camille Ta-Perez, Senior Lorelai Pohl, and Sophomore Sydney Van Stralen. Yorba Linda girls finished 4th as a team, securing their advancement to state.
