The Century Conference Preview was the race to make moves. The YL Mustangs served PRs and more as they raced against teams in their North Hills league as well as the Crestview League on Wednesday afternoon at Yorba Regional Park. With first-place finishes from the Frosh/Soph Girls, JV Girls, JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys, YLXC proved their potential in the North Hills League. Starting off the afternoon, Kailey Cook led the Girls JV team who finished first in League and 2nd overall with notable PR’s from Alexis Hermann and Ashley Arrieta. Our Frosh/Soph Girls and Boys teams led by Tyler Yang and Lucy Carter thrived on the course earning 14 PRs in total and proving that they grow stronger with each race. Girls Varsity raced smart, led by Siena Palicke who finished 2nd overall. Emma Karcher ran an outstanding PR and steadily climbed her way to the top of the race finishing as our fourth varsity runner. Leading the varsity boys team, Neil Bondoc raced a suspenseful 15:10 and finished 4th overall, making him the first Yorba Linda boy to ever finish in the Top 5 at League! The rest of his teammates continued to show off with Vijay Arora and Noah Camacho working together to run in the low 16:00’s and Mason French and Brandon Nowland challenging each other to reach new records as well. With the success they have had in this first preview meet for the league, the runners are on track to accomplish their goals when they race these teams again.
